Crime stats drop in CBD

The Safe CBD project invites the community to be a part of the Community Police Forum meeting on Thursday, December 11, at the SAPS Boardroom at 6pm.
According to project chairperson, Yousuf Randeree, this meeting would provide an ideal opportunity for skeptics and community members to see a noticeable drop in the crime, and an increase in the arrests coming out of the Central Business District.
“We wanted to start something people could believe in. We have shown through this project, more arrests are being made and the criminals who were once running amok in the CBD can be stopped. At this meeting people will be able to see how much of change we have fought to bring about,” he said.
The meeting would be concentrating on Sector 1 that includes areas from the CBD to the Central suburbs.
Aside from allowing the community to see the new statistics, it would also give an opportunity to brainstorm ideas and share fears with policing entities.
Mr Randeree was hopeful the CBD would be restored to a safe environment, and invited residents to attend the project meeting next week Thursday, December 18 at 6pm at the Chicken Parlour.
