Blatant robbery shocks suburb

Police advised residents to ensure they were not followed home, to be vigilant and monitor their rear-view mirrors.

Crime reared its ugly head in Paradise once again last week when a resident was robbed at gunpoint after returning home from vacation.

Apparently, upon returning home, the family entered the home while the father of the family returned to the vehicle to unpack the baggage.

During trips between the car and the house, one of two alleged robbers sneaked up on the man and robbed him at gunpoint of his money and ‘quick-fix’ possessions.

According to a police source, the victim’s firearm was also taken.

After acquiring this loot, the culprits fled the scene.

It is speculated the suspects entered the yard of the house via the neighbours’ property, or stealthily followed the family vehicle to the home.

Police advised residents to ensure they were not followed home, to be vigilant and monitor their rear-view mirrors.

Paradise Neighbourhood Watch head of security, Mark Jacobs explained this was the first major incident and blatant criminal act against a resident in the area in more than a year.

“We are quite shocked by the incident. We had monitored the home earlier in the day and had noticed no suspicious activities or personnel prior to the incident. These guys were extremely quick in their robbery,” said Mr Jacobs.
