GOOD people of AbaQulusi, we have nearly 1,000 members on our ARA FB page. The committee would be happy to see even 20% of you at the AGM. Please make every effort to attend.
The AGM will be held this Thursday, February 5, at 5:30pm in the Risen Son Academy hall, on the corner of West and Utrecht streets.
The national government has made clear its intention to improve municipal service delivery across the nation and the ARA is asking the AbaQulusi Local Municipality (ALM) to upgrade its performance to comply.
Civil rights organizations like the AbaQulusi Residents Association (ARA) are very necessary to keep on campaigning and agitating the ALM to do the jobs that we are forced to overpay them for. Even the best politicians get lazy after elections and need to be pushed like wheelbarrows.
A very positive sign is that Chris Fourie, the KZN provincial coordinator of the human rights organization Afriforum, has declared 2015 a year of action for Vryheid (AbaQulusi) and Newcastle. Afriforum has the financial and legal muscle to force municipalities to deliver services correctly and efficiently according to the law of South Africa so the ARA really welcomes their year of action. There are a lot of things in AbaQulusi that need improving.
Remember the COSATU slogan, “An injury to one is an injury to all”? Well the reverse of that is, “A benefit to one is a benefit to all”!
Afriforum is mainly but not exclusively focused on the Afrikaans speaking community. However, if they can get the municipality to supply clean drinking water etc. etc. it benefits every single resident of AbaQulusi and this is why the ARA supports this new initiative.
The ARA wishes all residents a prosperous, progressive and peaceful 2015.
