UPDATE: Suspects disappear with jewellery after subduing pensioner
The victim was attacked with a knife before being subdued.
Suspects managed an elusive escape moments before police officers arrived to the scene of the robbery in Fernwood.
It is alleged that one suspect sneaked into the house while the victim and her domestic worker were completing their daily chores.
The suspect attacked the home owner, an elderly woman believed to be a pensioner, with a knife, cutting her slightly, before subduing her and tying her up with duct tape.
The suspect then searched the rooms for jewellery, money, and quick-fix cash items.
According to sources, the suspects trashed certain rooms in the home before making their escape.
It is alleged three suspects were involved in the robbery.
On-scene officials claimed the incident occurred little over an hour ago when neighbours noticed a commotion in the victim’s home.
The neighbor contacted police for assistance before investigating the home personally.
Unfortunately, apparently due to conflicting statements and inaccurate profile descriptions, officers could not immediately begin searching for the suspects and no arrests were made.
The victim has since compiled a statement for police and was taken to hospital for trauma treatment.
The recent spate of burglaries have left many residents fearing no end in sight.
