EHS hosts prizegiving

The highlight of the day was Estcourt High School Dux, Mishaal Jagdew who received seven distinctions in the National Senior Certificate Exams and a total of 11 awards

Estcourt High School hosted its annual prizegiving on January 29.The guest speaker was Circuit Manager, Mr RB Smith who delivered an inspiring talk to the audience with particular focus on the learners. The highlight of the day was Estcourt High School Dux, Mishaal Jagdew who received seven distinctions in the National Senior Certificate Exams and a total of 11 awards, including a Special Award for third in the district.

He scooped awards in English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Geography and Life Orientation. He was given a spontaneous, standing ovation by all present. Other highlights included the much-anticipated announcement of Academic Colours and Academic Honours Blazers, which have a very strict criteria.

The Colours Blazers are maroon with silver braiding and the Honours Blazers are maroon with gold braiding. Grade 10 Colours were awarded to Savannalee Hodgkinson, Sphelele Mkhize, Nondumiso Zondo and Fanele Khumalo. Grade 11 Colours were awarded to Fezeka Thwala and Thembelihle Madinane.

Grade 11 Honours were awarded to Gloria Amoah, Paballo Likotsi and Zamandwande Ndima. First position in Grades eight, nine 10 and 11 were awarded to Siphumelele Madlala, Londeka Mbatha, Savannalee Hodgkinson and Zamandwande Ndima respectively.
