Child rapist sentenced to life
The victim spent the night at her mother's home. When her mother left for work the next day, her stepfather raped her repeatedly.
A 32-year-old man was sentenced by the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court, to life imprisonment for the rape of an 8-year-old girl.
The rape allegedly occurred on March 25, 2012 at oSizweni, Section F.
The victim spent the night at her mother’s home. When her mother left for work the next day, her stepfather raped her repeatedly.
Throughout the duration of her stay, the suspect raped the victim on several occasions.
A teacher later noticed she was urinating on herself at school. The victim was taken to a local clinic, where it was discovered she had been sexually assaulted.
An extensive investigation was conducted and the suspect was apprehended by Constable Masikane of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit.
The suspect was denied bail on November 21, 2012 and remanded in custody.
The community applauded police for ensuring justice was served, and claimed the violation of an innocent children would not be tolerated.
