Breakthrough in Kandahar Avenue murder
Two suspects, aged 18 and 22, have been arrested in the Tsakane area of Steadville
Ladysmith police have been successful in making arrests in connection with the murder of the late Mr Satyaprakash Sewraj Mungru (58). Two suspects, aged 18 and 22, have been arrested in the Tsakane area of Steadville.
The deceased and his wife were the victims of a brutal house robbery on the morning of February 16 at their home in Kandahar Avenue. The husband and wife, together with their domestic worker, were attacked in their home after 3 young men are believed to have entered the premises through the backyard.
The intruders tied up the elderly woman and domestic worker, and left them in a room. The husband was strangled to death in the passageway, his mouth and neck bound with socks. The robbers then ransacked the house, taking electrical appliances and other valuables before fleeing on foot.
The wife sustained a broken arm during the robbery.
The suspects are due to appear in court soon. They face charges of murder and robbery.
