South Africans have also proved that they have a sense of humour when it comes to the day. Last year saw many attention-grabbing headlines which infuriated some and left others bemused.
The Mail and Guardian have compiled a list of the best April Fool’s Day pranks that went viral last year, here are some of the ones that grabbed the most attention.
