South African celebrities are putting their best feet forward this Tekkie Tax day.
Local superstars including Jack Parow, Sadie Giliberti, Katlego Maboe, Sorina Erasmus and Tebogo Kgobokoe will be among many kicking it in tekkies on May 29, leaving the fancy shoes at home.
They have invited all residents to do the same.
Your contributions can make a true difference, with efforts divided into your choice of Animals, Basic Family Care, Children, Disability or Education, or your combination of the five.
The tax for the day is R10 per sticker.
Stickers or tekkie tags (bright, funky shoe laces) are available from participating welfare organisations, or can be ordered directly from the Tekkie Tax website – www.tekkietax.co.za
The campaign is endorsed by 16 of the biggest national non-government organisations.
Representing more than 1 500 local organisations, this list includes: Epilepsy SA, Child Welfare, SOS Children’s Villages, CHOC, Special Olympics SA, Endangered Wildlife Trust, HPCA, Imisebeyelanga Services, CANSA, Meals on Wheels, ACVV, VVA, Highveld Horse Care Unit, Cheshire Homes, NG Welsyn and SAVF.

Wear your stickers and tekkies on Tekkie Tax day – make your tekkies work that day and do some community services like taking the dogs at the shelter for a walk, bring a special treat for a child who needs care or anything else you can think of!
Last year, Tekkie Tax raised just over R4,8-million for its beneficiaries.
This year, why not be a part of history and ensure 2015 is the greatest Tekkie Tax effort yet? After all, it is for a number of good causes.
