BREAKING NEWS: Women held up by muggers
Cpt Magudulela said the Link Road stretch will be the target of patrols in future.
Two women were mugged en route to work on Tuesday morning, sources confirmed.
While walking along Link Road towards the Newcastle Mall, the women were held up and their possessions were taken.
Among items stolen were a cellphone, house keys and R10.
In response, cluster spokesman, Captain Shooz Magudulela explained task teams had been established to conduct operations within the entire cluster area.
Many officers have been deployed as a result.
Cpt Magudulela said members of the task team received daily briefings on areas of criminal activity and hotspots, and thus the Link Road stretch will be the target of patrols in future.
Residents are urged to exercise caution when walking along isolated routes.
