UPDATE: Hit and run driver caught

Sources said a tow truck driver tracked the motorist down.

It is speculated the motorist involved in last night’s hit and run, which resulted in a woman’s death along Drakensberg Road, was arrested shortly after the incident.

The arrest was allegedly made on Kirkland Street, at the St Dominic’s intersection, through the vigilance of a tow truck driver.

Wishing to remain anonymous, the tow truck driver said he was first on the scene and saw both the vehicle and motorist.

“I was therefore able to identify the vehicle and when it was spotted. I rushed to Kirkland Street with the police,” he said.

Captain Shooz Magudulela, police spokesperson, could not confirm the arrest but indicated he would give an official statement once the necessary facts had been confirmed.
