BREAKING NEWS: Farmer’s killers sentenced to life
High Court Judge, Jerome Mnguni handed down concurrent sentences for theft, aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and murder.
The killers of Newcastle farmer, Tim Green, were handed life sentences earlier this week.
In a dramatic close to the case, heard in the provincial High Court in Pietermaritzburg, Judge Jerome Mnguni found the two accused guilty of charges including theft, aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and murder.
The murderers will serve their sentences concurrently.
Both men, who resided near Mr Green’s farm, will live out the rest of their days behind bars for attacking the well-known beef farmer in August 2013, an attack which ended in his death.
The accused were arrested after revealing where the stolen items were hidden.
According to national media, the prevalence of farm attacks is on a steady rise, with a reported 130 murders having taken place in KZN since 2001.
