Women robbed on Link Road

Two women were mugged en route to work on Tuesday morning, sources confirmed.

While walking along Link Road extension towards Newcastle Mall, the women were held up and their possessions were taken.

Among items stolen were a cellphone and house keys.

In response, police spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela explained task teams had been established to conduct operations within the entire cluster area.

Many officers have been deployed as a result.

Cpt. Magudulela said members of the task team received daily briefings on areas of criminal activity and hot spots, and thus the Link Road stretch will be patrolled in future.

Residents are urged to exercise caution when walking along isolated routes.
