On Saturday, April 18, Dundee High competed against Pongola High School in the first winter sport games of the second term. The scores were as follows:
Hockey: Two of DHS’s teams played against Pongola High. The u/16 team had a very competitive game and were 1-0 down after the first half.
They fought back and played great hockey in the second half and managed to beat Pongola High with a score of 2-1. The first team girls also played extremely well and ended up winning with a final score of 4-1. Their speed and ability to play together as a team astounded spectators and the school is excited to see what the future holds for this team in the upcoming season.
Rugby: The u/15 boys played very well and won with an unbelievable score of 42-12. The first team rugby boys had a close game and won 20-14.
Netball: The u/14s had an exciting match against Pongola and managed to beat them 20-14. The first team also played very well.
Rolbal in Bloemfontein: Die KZNCB rolbalspan met Ruben Kenchenten en Will Fourie as deel van die span het ‘n goue medalje verower by die Suid-Afrikaanse Ontwikkelingstoernooi vir o/19 spelers in Bloemfontein.
Sportweni Netball Tour: The DHS first team Netball girls travelled to Port Shepstone during the holidays, April 7-11. The players gained a lot of experience at the Sportweni centre; new warm-up skills, coaching, training, the latest netball rules and team building skills. The coaches commented that the DHS girls were easy to work with and they were always called upon for the demonstration sessions. The DHS girls played nine matches and won five of them. A special thank you to the first team coach, Ms Nxumalo and Mrs Madondo for all their hard work and encouragement.
Matric Tea: On Thursday, April 16, six DHS prefects were invited to attend the annual St. Dominic’s Academy Matric Tea. It was an elegant afternoon, well organised and presented, and an exciting experience for the learners.
A learner from each visiting school had to present a short speech and many inspirational and up-building speeches were delivered which benefited all in attendance. The occasion afforded the DHS learners the opportunity to meet learners from local schools and to bond. A special thank you to St. Dominic’s for hosting this special event.
