Your vote could push Newcastle through to the semi-final round, as one of the top three towns in KwaZulu-Natal. Three towns from each province qualify to advance.
In the semi-final stage of the annual competition, viewers of Kwela (channel 144) cast their votes for the best town in each region. Regional winners feature in a documentary on the channel. The grand prize for ‘Town of the Year’ is R1-million worth of marketing, to boost tourism and attract more fame to the town.

“We need about 4000 votes to ensure we are part of the top 10,” explained local businessman, Johan Pieters. “Are we better than Graaff-Reinet, De Rust, Sabie, Fouriesberg and the other previous winners? Vote now!”
