92-year-old granny raped at home

A 92-year-old grandmother was raped at her home on Sunday night in the Mcitsheni area near Ezakheni.

It is alleged that the culprit gained access into the house from the front door, as it doesn’t lock properly. He proceeded to rape the woman, who was alone in the house at the time. She was sleeping and was awoken by her attacker.

The suspect left on foot and did not steal anything from the house.

When the woman screamed for helped, her neighbours rushed to her aid and she was taken to St Chad’s Clinic for treatment.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene, and a case of rape is being investigated by the Ladysmith Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences Unit (FCS). No arrests have been made as yet.
