Minolta Newcastle donated 50 shrubs to Arbor Park Primary School on Tuesday as part of a community project.
“We want to give back to the community and ensure our commitment to the society and environment has been met,” said Vernon van der Merwe, Minolta branch manager. Planting trees was important, he said, as it supplied paper, the company’s biggest product.
Lucky Xaba from Food and Trees for Africa, showed the children the correct way to plant a shrub and encouraged them to get more involved in planting trees and plants.
Pamela de Jager, principal of the school, thanked Minolta and Food and Trees for Africa for their kind interest in the school and its pupils and also for the shrubs that would surely beautify the premises.
