TWO of our girls hockey players, Siphokazi Khumalo and Nokulunga Phenyane, were selected for the u/13 Zululand District team.
They will travel to Pietermaritzburg to take part in the KZN Inland trials. Good luck for the next round of matches!
Winter sport against Monument: On Friday, 24 April, NRS hosted a sport day against Monument Primary of Ladysmith. It turned out to be a beautiful day and our sport teams had good spectator support. The results were as follows (NRS scores first): Hockey: u/9 0-6, u/10 0-0 and the 1st team 0-4. Netball: u/9 0-16, u/10 1-9 and u/11 1-16. Rugby: u/9 0-5, u/10 12-10, u/11A 36-14, the 2nd team 17-24 and the 1st team 31-24.
Winter sport against Drakensberg: Last Thursday, just before the long weekend, several of our sport teams travelled to Newcastle to play against Drakensberg. NRS would like to thank Drakensberg for hosting us and accommodating us with this date. The results were as follows (NRS scores first): Rugby: u/9 0-20, u/10 0-15, u/11 34-0, 2nd team 31-0 and the 1st team 39-0. Netball: u/10 13-3, u/11 3-8, u/12 team (against their 2nd team) 4-7 and the 1st team 17-8. Girls’ hockey: The first team drew 1-1.
Choir: At the moment the school choir is practising very hard with their conductor, Mrs R Grobler. As all of the choir members are Zulu speaking, it is a challenge to sing the prescribed songs in Afrikaans. They are very excited to take part in the Applous Choir Competition in Newcastle next Monday evening.
