Phones recovered police request victims to come forward

For many, the Vodacom Winter Festival is the biggest and most anticipated function of the year.
It brings joy, excitement and a host of unforgettable memories.
However, for the unfortunate few, the festival may bring a some bad luck as it is a gathering spot and treasure trove for the quick pickpocket or dangerous mugger.
Many residents fell victim to pickpockets and muggers this year, with some residents choosing to vent about the matters on social media.
For one victim, two suspects approached her and a friend as they left the show grounds.
The suspects demanded their possessions, and when the victims attempted to escape, the suspects gave chase and attacked.
The victims were not seriously injured, but their possessions and phones were stolen.
However, on Sunday a stop-and-search operation led by Section 4 Madadeni cluster task team led to the arrest of two suspects, who were in possession of stolen property.
One of the suspects was in possession of five cellphones, while the other had two.
Police officials have placed the value of phones at R5 000.

He appealed to those whose cellphones were stolen at the show, to contact Lieutenant Colonel Thembinkosi Mntambo on 034 329 6643 to help identify them.
