The arresting officers: Warrant Officer Rehman Bongani Shongwe, Sergeant Sizwe AG Buthelezi, Constable Vusi Masondo, Constable Themba Nzima, Constable Nthabiseng Molefe, Constable Zwelithini Khoza, Sergeant Warden E Harripersadh and Constable S’fundo E Ngcobo.

Two men were arrested for being in possession of a container, stolen from the Eskom site in Madadeni.

The arrest was made after Newcastle Public Order Police (POP) unit had received information of a suspected stolen container being off-loaded in the Ematsheketsheni area, oSizweni.

Investigations were conducted and police discovered the container belonged to Eskom.

According to Captain Shooz Magudulela, police spokesperson, Eskom officials confirmed ownership.

“When the container was opened, it was full of Eskom electrical equipment to the value of R500 000, while the container was valued at R26 500,” Captain Magudulela said.

Further investigations continue.
