Woman arrested for possession of 388 Mandrax tablets at Taxi Rank
Mandrax worth an estimated R20 000 was seized.
A 40-year-old woman was arrested for possesion of Mandrax at the Newcastle Taxi Rank recently.
According to reports, the drugs have an estimated street value of about R20 000.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said police received information the Gauteng woman was en route to Madadeni.
“The suspect was apprehended at the Newcastle taxi rank and a search was conducted. 388 Mandrax tablets were seized from her possession,” Col Naicker was quoted as saying.
The suspect was detained at Newcastle police station and is expected to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court soon.
