Police management have lauded the recovery and arrest made by members of the Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) last Wednesday, May 6. The members were patrolling in the central business district at about 3pm when a call from an informant alerted an officer that a man was carrying drugs in a bag.

A description was given to police and the man was followed. He was stopped in Alexandra Street where he was searched. “The bag in his possession contained mandrax tablets, whoonga and cat (Methcathinone).”The suspect (33) was arrested and appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on Friday, May 8.

The case was postponed to Thursday, May 14 and the suspect was remanded in custody,” commented police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso. She added that Cluster Commander Brigadier Johan Reynders and Station Commander Colonel Kheswa have commended the good work by the CPU.
