Winterton land invaders removed

A local farmer saw people dressed in red clothing go into the farm and pitch 15 to 20 tents

Land invaders who are allegedly linked to the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) were removed from Bell Park Farm in Winterton yesterday (Wednesday) with the help of police.

Tents and poles that were erected on the property were also taken down.

A local farmer from the area saw people dressed in red clothing go into the farm and pitch 15 to 20 tents.

They began planting and also erecting poles on the farm, possibly to build shacks on the land.

An interdict was granted by the court, restricting the land invaders from entering the farm and forbidding them from erecting any structures on the land.

They have until June 2 to oppose the application.
