Alleged drug mule arrested

The K9 Unit and Visible Policing Unit arrested an alleged drug mule last Wednesday, May 13, at the Taxi Rank, after a tip-off.

The suspect was in possession of 388 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R20 000.

She was charged for possession of drugs and is expected to appear in Newcastle Magistrate’s Court soon.

KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended the arresting officers.

“It is through the combined efforts of various teams across the province, targeting the drug-trade, that we will achieve our vision of making our province a drug-free zone. We appeal to members of community to continue working with police to eradicate the drug scourge that is making the future of our youth doomed,” she said.
