The Love Guru is the latest comedy from Sans Moonsamy and comes to Blackrock Casino on May 30.

The production was officially launched in February this year in Durban and according to Mr Moonsamy, it is one of his best shows ever. “In my 15 years in this business, it is has been amazingly received.”

The storyline follows the biggest love conference in the world taking place in South Africa, right next to Vishnoo’s Karaoke Klub. Vishnoo, played by Mr Moonsamy, sees an opportunity to attract people to his venue.

Vishnoo concocts a Love Potion Cocktail as a marketing gimmick to woo customers to his venue but mistakenly drinks it himself and starts falling in love with his only staff member, the multipurpose worker Thembisani, resulting in hilarious consequences.

Thembisani is played by the young up-and-coming comedic talent, Kerusha Kisten. Ms Kisten is a former international beauty queen won the Miss India Globe title in 2010. She has since been a top ten finalist on the Top Billing’s presenter search and has written and performed a few live shows.

The show also features zany characters (all played by Moonsamy and Kisten) such as Nicky Maharaj, the crazy cheating girlfriend, Guru Deepa also known as The Lust Guru, Willie Ray Virus, Bonga Dube, Deepak Shakur and lots more.

Audience participation is what sets The Love Guru apart as Aunty Deepa will be bringing certain audience members on stage and discussing their issues… LIVE.

With many other surprises on stage, The Love Guru is a little bit rude, bold and daring but with no swearing.

Mr Moonsamy said the show was not targeted at an Indian audience only, but for the entire South African population. “We want to appeal across borders and break cultural barriers, which is what this type of show is all about.”

This show marks Mr Moonsamy’s second visit to Newcastle, a visit he is looking forward to.

“Newcastle has been warm and receptive, at my last show here, it felt like I was performing for friends,” he said.

With the show promising to be a side splitting experience, the Newcastle community is invited to join in on the fun.
