Building partnerships to stand the test of time

This weekend marks the anniversary of the longest standing inter-school derby in Newcastle’s history, namely Ferrum High School (FHS) against Newcastle High School (NHS).

This weekend marks the anniversary of the longest standing inter-school derby in Newcastle’s history, namely Ferrum High School (FHS) against Newcastle High School (NHS).

Last year, NHS was triumphant over its bitter rivals, and on Saturday, the school will be hoping to do the double over FHS.

The main sponsor of the derby day, ITEC, believes sport is very important in a person’s schooling career.

With the popularity of the computer, video games and television constantly increasing, children’s lifestyles have become very inactive.

The company believes through sports and games, lifestyles can be enhanced, thus helping children develop mentally and physically.

By helping to eliminate mental exhaustion, sport has become integral to education.

The competition is of a very high standard with every player throwing their heart and soul into the match.

With this in mind, ITEC Newcastle has partnered with Newcastle High to launch the ITEC Newcastle High School Derby Day.

Itec and NHS have enjoyed a 15-year relationship of Itec supplying the school with the world’s leading brands in printing solutions.

This development in the partnership was thus a direct result of the years of cooperation and mutual trust and respect.

NHS values this relationship, and the principal, student governing body, staff and pupils thanked Itec for its long-standing commitment to the school.

Itec has donated a floating trophy for the derby day, and this trophy will be awarded to the school with the best overall results from all the participating first teams.

The games will include netball, hockey, rugby and soccer.
