After 30 years of service at Dannhauser Secondary, and 42 years in the teaching profession, Mr Nair is ready to leave the world of teaching behind.
Mr Nair, who specialised in art, maths and English, spent 12 years at Dundee Secondary before moving to Dannhauser Secondary.
It was here that Mr Nair really made a positive impact on not only the learners, but also the community at large.
His impressive résumé also includes serving as a principal, steering the school through rough patches and overcoming difficulties faced. “Every day has been a highlight for me. During my time in charge, we never dropped below the 95% pass rate,” said Mr Nair.
The constant excellent results have seen the school maintain a high ranking as one of the top performing schools in the Amajuba district, a real feat to be proud of. Mr Nair is also proud that the school has always been renowned for its discipline, something he hopes will continue with years to come.
“I leave with a sense of pride having achievements in all aspects during my time here,” he said.
Mr Nair thanked past principals, present staff, learners, the SGB and the community for their support during the years. He also paid special tribute to the former principal, GD Naidoo, whose many methods he adopted to help steer Dannhauser Secondary in the right direction.
He also wished the staff and matriculants everything of the best as they continue to provide quality education at the school.
Though he may be leaving, he won’t forget the school and promises to always be available for support.
“It will always be a part of my life. After 30 years you can’t throw it away or forget.”
With no regrets behind him and more free time ahead of him, Mr Nair is excited about what the future holds.
