Clairissa, dancing through life

For Clairissa Naidoo, dancing is more than a mere hobby.
The 13-year-old teenager has immersed herself in a world where dancing has become a way of life.
“I started dancing when I was about four years old,” she said, claiming her grandmother made her realise she was a gifted dancer.
Practising as often as possible, performing at social events with fellow dancers of dance school, CKN Dancers, Clairissa is determined not to let anything stop her. “It is something fun to do; it keeps you fit and I really enjoy the music and if there is a nice beat, dancing is even nicer.”
Her love for dance inspired her to help her mother, Rashika, teach other youngsters the art of dancing at their dancing school.
Teaching others how to dance has opened a door to a new world. “I really like dancing and just want to share my talent,” Clairissa emphasised.
However, while enjoying the responsibility of teaching others, she only teaches on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure it did not hamper her or other students’ school work.
“I would really encourage others to take up dancing, as it is a great hobby,” she concluded.
