New Republic School – NRS takes part in AMESA Maths quiz
Four of our Grade 7 learners also took part in this tough competition, namely Snethemba Mahlinza, Muhammed Manjoo, Gausiya Gora and Ali Abdulla. Although they did not reach the final round, these learners represented their school with pride and gave of their best. It was a great learning experience. Well done to all of you!
ON Saturday, May 23, the AMESA Mathematics Quiz competition took place at the Maris Stella Combined School in Durban, where 140 teams from 70 schools participated.
Four of our Grade 7 learners also took part in this tough competition, namely Snethemba Mahlinza, Muhammed Manjoo, Gausiya Gora and Ali Abdulla. Winter sport against Pongola: On Tuesday, May 26, our teams travelled to Pongola, where they took part in a well organised, pleasant afternoon of sport. The coaches were happy to see how their teams have improved since the beginning of the season. The results were as follows (NRS scores given first): Rugby: u/9 10-0; u/11 34-5 and the 1st team 31-15. Netball: u/9 0-10; u/10 5-4; u/11 0-15; u/12 2-12 and the 1st team 5-2. Hockey: The u/9 team won 5-0 and the 1st team won 8-0.
Boys’ hockey: Kyle Crous took part in the KZN Inlands hockey trials in Pietermaritzburg during the weekend of May 23-25. NRS would like to congratulate him on his selection for the KZN Inlands u/13 B hockey team. Well done, Kyle! On Wednesday, 27 May, NRS hosted a boys hockey tournament at our sports fields. The boys hockey team of NRS played against several Dundee schools, with the following results: against Ulzen 0-0, against Biggarsberg 0-6 and against Ichtus 0-0.
Netbaltoernooi: Op Donderdag, 28 Mei, het ons netbalspanne met groot entoesiasme gaan deelneem aan ‘n netbaltoernooi wat deur Hlobane Senior Primêre Skool aangebied is. Die o/10’s speel drie wedstryde waarin hulle 1-6 teen Paulpietersburg verloor, 7-0 teen Louwsburg wen en 7-5 teen Lucas Meyer wen. Die o/11’s verloor 3-6 teen Paulpieterburg, wen 11-2 teen Hlobane B en verloor 3-6 teen Hlobane A. Die o/12-span wen teen Lucas Meyer met 6-4, verloor teen Paulpietersburg met 1-2 en verloor teen Hlobane met 0-18. Die eerste span speel twee wedstryde waarin hulle Lucas Meyer met 15-0 klop en daarna naelskraap met 8-9 teen Paulpietersburg verloor.
