A 19-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of assault. According to the complainant he went to visit his friend in a location in Mimosadale when he noticed he was being followed.

When he arrived at the friend’s premises, the suspect began accusing the victim of gossiping about his father’s car. The victim decided to leave the friend’s home but the suspect continued following him and an argument between the two sparked on the road.

The suspect then picked up a beer bottle, which was lying on the ground and stabbed the victim. The victim had to be rushed to the hospital as he sustained a stab wound to the right hand of his upper back area.

The matter was reported to the Estcourt Police Station and an investigation commenced, which resulted in one 19-year-old suspect being arrested. He appeared before the Estcourt Magistrates Court for assault GBH on Wednesday, June 3.
