A badly beaten and left for dead woman may see justice being served after two suspects were arrested recently for attempted murder and house robbery. The woman was found bloodied, naked and severely assaulted by her daughter at their home on Spitzberg Farm in KwaBhekuzulu on February 11.

When police arrived on scene, the daughter pointed to her mother who was lying helpless on the floor. Two deep open wounds were visible on the woman’s forehead and she was bleeding profusely.

Her clothes, which were discarded on the floor, were torn and also drenched in blood. Police recovered a brick on a couch, which they believe to be the weapon used assault the woman.

After questioning the daughter, police ascertained that when she left for school in the morning, the mother was in good health but upon her return, she found her mother in a pool of blood. The daughter stated that four cell phones were taken from the house. An ambulance was summoned and the badly injured woman was taken to Estcourt Provincial Hospital.

“After a case was opened, Estcourt Detectives left no stone unturned in arresting the suspects and their investigation reaped the rewards when two suspects, aged 19 and 20, were arrested and appeared before the Estcourt Magistrates Court on June 8 on charges of attempted murder and house robbery,” commented police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso.

She added that Cluster Commander Brigadier Reynders and Station Commander Colonel Kheswa have applauded the detectives for working tirelessly and securing the arrests.
