What an amazing end to the second term as the children at Weenen Primêr collected a record amount for their sponsored walk – The Rainbow Ramble.
Each class was decked out in the colour of their choice on break-up day as they walked their 10 laps – encouraged by teachers, parents and past pupils.
A wonderful end to weeks of collecting money for their school. The grade fours had an extra treat when they went on what was for most of them, their first trip to the Weenen Game Reserve where they learnt about the animals and their footprints, under the guidance of Mr Frik Lemmer, Mrs Leigh Lemmer and Mr Ian Smallie.
The children were fascinated and will now be scouring the ground for footprints with far more first-hand knowledge than they had before.
Due to the furrows that normally take water to our school, no longer functioning – undeterred, our children are taking turns to water their school gardens during clean-up time.
The water is collected and transported by one of the teachers from their home to the school, where the drums are filled twice a week. Thank you to all who support our fine school – we are extremely grateful!
