Dannhauser water saga reaches new heights

Residents refuse to budge until they meet with District Mayor.

The ongoing water woes saga between the Amajuba District Municipality and residents of Dannhauser reached new heights this past week.

Community member, Colin Krause, who together with Pravin Nair spearheaded the stand against the district, said that district municipality had employed new methods to get residents to pay their accounts.

Mr Krause explained that the municipality had resorted to bullying tactics by phoning residents and putting pressure on them to pay fictitious water accounts.

Previously the district municipality made visits to homes, getting residents to sign documents stating that they would pay. Mr Krause urged residents to stand strong.

“We as the residents of Dannhauser are still waiting for the Mayor of Amajuba District Municipality to meet with us and answer the requests put to her. Until then, stand firm and don’t submit to rogue tactics,” Mr Krause urged.
This is not the first time that residents and the district have faced off.

There have been numerous meetings between the two parties to address the ongoing problems in town, however, they have all been fruitless.

While the residents forum have had all their ducks in a row, eager to address to the issues, the district haven’t.

Residents are adamant that they will not pay their accounts until the mayor meets with them to iron out the ongoing problems.
