THIS week there is good news and bad news.

The good news is that the dispute at the High Street bridge has been settled and that a contractor has been appointed to finish the job. By the time you read this letter he will be on the job.

The bad news is that the water situation is reaching a critical state.

A meeting was held on July 16 between AbaQulusi’s Exco and Zululand District Municipality to address this problem, and it appears that the whole district is in trouble.

Consumers will really have to make a huge effort to save water.

We appeal to those folk who have boreholes to use them as much as possible.

Further restrictions will be imposed as soon as they have been finalized.
