Two suspects aged 24 and 28 appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on Monday; August 3 facing charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) after they were arrested on Friday, July 31 at about 8pm.
The men were at a local tavern and were sitting with a female when her boyfriend approached them and hugged her. “The two males began to assault the man with a beer bottle and he sustained injuries to his face and body,” commented police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso.
An ambulance was called to the scene and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment. After a case was opened at the Estcourt Police Station, the two suspects were arrested and charged.
