Lights, camera, action!
Acting out skits for national television became second nature to the pupils of Ferrum High School on August 4.
A crew from kykNET’s Skole Top 10 show paid the school a visit to film their nominations for the hottest songs on the radio right now.
The pupils put their creativity to the test, while showcasing their talent, tradition and school spirit.
Matriculant, Rozanne du Plooy played her part perfectly, never once shying away from the camera or the attention that came with it.
“It was something totally different. Newcastle is a small town with people who aren’t really used to things like this. The fact that it happened during my final year of high school was an absolutely fantastic experience!” exclaimed the teen.
The 18-year-old said being in front of the camera was daunting at first. However, she managed to calm her nerves and deliver an excellent performance in every take.
“I was scared I would forget my lines or say the wrong thing, but in the end it wasn’t so bad,” she explained.
Rozanne’s friends and family often refer to her as a drama queen, a quality that certainly helped her get through the fi lming process.
“The drama queen in me came out. If an opportunity to be on TV were to present itself in future, I would definitely take it. Most people say the whole ‘being in front of the camera thing’ isn’t for them, but I found it exciting and fun.”
The youngster was grateful to Leon Human and Gert Steyn from kykNET for making her feel comfortable and at ease.
“Being on camera is something everyone should experience in their lifetime. I would do it again in a heartbeat,” concluded Rozanne.
The school thanked the kykNET team for spending the day with them, as well as all those contributed to making the day a success.
The episode featuring Ferrum will be broadcast on channel 144 on DSTV on August 17 at 5pm
