Police confiscate stolen property in flat

SAPS spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela said police raided a flat in Pioneer Park after receiving a tip-off.
Of the items recovered were TVs, DVDs and jewellery allegedly stolen during burglaries in Aviary Hill, Sunny Ridge, Pioneer Park and Schuinshoogte.
The suspects apparently burgled homes near the block of flats where the stolen items were being stored. According to police, the suspects were South African citizens working under the authority of Malawian nationals.
“They steal only to supply the foreign nationals,” he claimed.
Victims were able to positively identify their belongings.
The suspects, aged between 21 and 30, will appear before a Newcastle court soon on August 14, where their bail application will be heard.
“One suspect has already made a confession in regards to one case of house robbery,” concluded Capt. Magudulela.
The community commended police for cracking down on the suspects, proving once again that crime does not pay.
Investigations continue.
