THE u/11 cricket team hosted Lucas Meyer on Monday, August 11.
Michaelis won the toss and sent LMS in to bat first. LMS scored an impressive 107 runs off 20 overs. Michaelis batted bravely but in the end fell short by 30 runs. Well done to LMS on their impressive victory. Michaelis u/11’s, keep your heads held high, the season is only at its halfway mark. The best bowler was Mpumelelo Mazibuko with 3 wickets for 20 runs and the best batsman was Rudi Dedekind with 21 runs and he also hit his first 6 of the season. Well done, boys!
The u/13 side played a 30 over match against LMS on Thursday. Michaelis scored 115 for 6, which was not enough to beat LMS who scored 226 for 8. Mthobisi Dlamini was the best batsman who scored 32 runs, and the best bowlers were Ivan Tschirpig and Cameron Aitken who each took 3 wickets.
Seven-a-side: Seven of our boys attended the u/13 seven-a-side cricket tournament held in Lüneburg this weekend. On Friday we played against LMS1 and lost by 9 runs. On Saturday morning we played against Wittenberg and after a nail biting match, lost by only 6 runs. We then played against LMS2 and won the match. The boys gained valuable experience and enjoyed the tournament tremendously. A big thank you to Lüneburg School for a well organised event and for your hospitality. Thank you also to Dean Aitken for helping with the coaching.
Mini-cricket: On Saturday, August 22, all of our Mini Cricket players set off for Utrecht where they played their first matches of the season. The Mini Cricket Dolphin Tournament was held at Utrecht High School and as always, was a lovely well organised morning. Thank you for having us and hosting this funfilled day! All our teams played exceptionally well and won all their matches. The u/7’s played against Glencoe, Drakensberg and Dundee and the scores were as follows: 36/26, 41/5 and 22/6. Our u/8 team beat Drakensberg Girls 45/42, Ichtus 52/20 and Dundee 39/16. The u/9’s were also undefeated, beating Piet Retief 45/29, St Dom’s 38/28 and Lucas Meyer 50/30. Fantastic effort, Mini Cricket Teams! Keep it up, we are proud of you!
