AFTER 26 years at VHS, Mrs Margaret Mdlalose is retiring.
Our sincere appreciation for her many years of dedicated service. We will definitely miss her here, but we wish her a blessed retirement and rest.
We had a very successful week on the sportsfields: Tennis: On Friday, August 28, VHS played tennis against Ferrum. Three matches could not be completed. Rain showers and lightning stopped the matches. VHS won 10 – 8. Cricket: On Saturday, VHS travelled to Newcastle to face Newcastle High. Newcastle batted first and posted 81 all out. The best bowler was Ralf Niebuhr with 6 wickets. VHS batted 2nd and won the game in 7.2 overs with 9 wickets in hand. The best batsman was Mark Dedekind with 34 not out. The u/15 cricket team also beat Ladysmith High by 7 wickets. Netball: On Friday, August 28, the girls played 3 games, 2 against Pionier and 1 against Ferrum, They lost all three games. On Saturday they played one against Pionier and one against Landbou. They defeated Landbou and went through to the plate final. There they lost the final against Pionier and ended 5th. Rugby: Hoërskool Vryheid, wat in die moeilikste poel ingedeel was, het hulle baie goed van hulle taak gekwyt. Hulle het 5 uit 6 wedstryde gewen en in die finale plaatafdeling teen Pionier wen hulle weer. Geluk aan al die spelers wat deelgeneem het. Ook baie dankie vir al die ouers wat die spelers ondersteun het.
