While community members set out to support the Cansa Relay for Life; all motivated to support the fight against cancer, sadly others had different intentions. Two incidents were reported.

During the first incident, it is believed that staff from Sasko were held up at knifepoint for a camera, which was in their vehicle.
The Event Chairperson Anil Sookraj was alerted and said that a group of what he described as primary school children were allegedly involved.

The Sasko staff members later identified two of the children who were present when they were held at knifepoint. Security was called and they questioned the youngsters, who denied being part of the act. It’s been said that the Sasko staff members left the Relay shortly after the confrontation with the two boys.

It is unclear if the camera was returned. A cellular phone was also reported missing, but was returned to its rightful owner by the end of the Relay.

A black, BlackBerry 9720 with a black cover, which belongs to the Estcourt News went missing during the evening of the Cansa Relay.
