Severe penalties for illegal dumping

Residents who throw out waste from moving vehicles face the risk of having their vehicles impounded and released upon payment of a fine

Residents of Umtshezi are prohibited from illegally dumping waste, this is according to Acting Municipal Manager Elphas Dladla.

“Residents found guilty illegal dumping will face severe penalties, including paying a fine and possible prosecution,” he added.

Umtshezi Municipality has a schedule of collecting household waste. Also, residents who throw out waste from moving vehicles face the risk of having their vehicles impounded and released upon payment of a fine.

“We have entered spring and residents are urged to work together with Umtshezi Municipality to keep our town clean,” concluded Mr Dladla.
