Vehicle crashes near Ladysmith Motel
The occupants left the car after crashing down an embankment
An Opel was involved in an accident last night (Saturday) near Ladysmith Motel on the N11.
The car crashed into the barrier at the side of the road and also through a road information sign, and careened down an embankment.
When Public Safety officers arrived at the scene, there was no one in the vehicle. The car was locked and the occupants had left the area.
SAPS also responded, and while police and Public Safety officers were at the scene, the driver of a BMW suspiciously decided to make a U-turn at the turn-off leading to the motel.
The officers stopped the driver and gave him a breathalyzer test. When he ‘blew’, he was found to be over the legal blood-alcohol limit.
Public Safety officers arrested the man for drunk driving.
