Heritage Day carnival in main street

The aim of the two-day event is to acknowledge cultural diversity in keeping with Heritage Day celebrations

uThukela District Municipality are holding their first-ever ‘uThukela District Carnival’ today and tomorrow (September 24 and 25).

The aim of the two-day event is to acknowledge cultural diversity in keeping with Heritage Day celebrations, with the theme ‘Celebrating Cultural Diversity in the uThukela District’.

This morning, young and old participated in a parade that started from Wimpy Park and ended at the Town Hall in Queen Street. Music filled the air and a variety of entertainers were part of the festive parade. These included stilt walkers, giant puppets, acrobats, drum majorettes and brass bands.

The celebrations are currently continuing at the Town Hall.

So, if you’re bored and have no plans for the rest of the day, get on down to town and join in the carnival atmosphere.

And don’t forget that tomorrow will see a Mega Music Concert happening at the Indoor Sports Complex from 9am.
