Court confirms convictions on a variety of crimes

Members of the public should be on the look-out for people trying to fence (sell off) goods such as flat screen TVs, DVD players, laptops, cellphone and jewellery

The Dundee Magistrate’s Court last week finalised various cases including a range of crimes from robbery, drunken driving and possession of dagga.
* Vusumuzi Mtshali (28) was jailed for five years after he was convicted for being in possession of an illegal firearm. Two of the years were suspended for five years.
* Musomuhle Njabulo Sithole (18) was fined R3000, or 12 months imprisonment, on a charge of robbery.
* Enock Mbuzeni Zikhali (35) was fined R500, or three months, on a charge of assault.
* Sicele Sandile Mange (24) was fined R10 000 for drunk driving or 12 months imprisonment of which six months will be suspended for five years. * Phumlani Dlamini was fined R300 or three months for the possession of dagga. Capt V Mbense, Dundee SAPS Communications Officer, warned residents to ‘stay away from criminal activity as it will lead them to being arrested’.
“Residents are urged not to buy stolen goods …if it sounds too be good to be true, it probably is. Those found in possession of stolen goods will be arrested and charged as ‘normal’ thieves.”
He added that members of the public should be on the look-out for people trying to fence (sell off) goods such as flat screen TVs, DVD players, laptops, cellphone and jewellery. Anyone with information should contact their nearest police station.
