The drought has NOT broken

TRUE, there has been some early spring rains, but it has made little to no difference to dam levels.

Latest figures, dated September 21, from the Department of Water Affairs have Klipfontein dam at 37.2% full, down from 38.6% the week before. At the same time last year Klipfontein was 71.3% full.

Residents are reminded that water restrictions are in force.

Residents are reminded of the water consumption restrictions:

* Domestic houses – 18 kilolitres /month;

* Flat complexes with a single meter – 10 kilolitres /flat/month;

* Garages – 50 kilolitres/month provided toilets are open to the public;

* Shops – 10 kilolitres /month;

* Supermarkets – 150 kilolitres/month;

* Laundromats – 100 kilolitres/month;

* High schools – 150 kilolitres/month;

* Primary schools – 75 kilolitres/month;

* Car washes – 100 kilolitres/month;

* Abattoir – 450 kilolitres/month;

* Building contractors – 100 kilolitres/month;

* Motor dealers – 50 kilolitres/month.
