Vryheid Cricket Club – Machado makes his mark for Mr X
The best batsman for the Twenty/20 campaign was Miguel Machado, scoring 208 runs and David Sandalls took the bowling prize for the most wickets, his 4 wicket haul in the final took his tally to 9 wickets.
THE Twenty/20 final was played last Sunday at Cecil Emmett Park between Mr X and Wicket Wasps.
The much anticipated game was well supported and good quality cricket was played in good weather conditions. Mr X won the toss and elected to bowl on a good batting wicket. Wicket Wasps scored 141/9 in their 20 overs with Rudolf Scholtz (32 not out) and Tiaan Naudè (25) top scoring. Best bowling for Mr X came from David Sandalls (4-0-14-4) and Gavin Bosman (4-0-17-1).
In chasing, Miguel Machado scored a great 86 and took Mr X to victory in the 18th over. Jean Botha was the next best batsman scoring 29 runs. Norman Phillips (4-0-26-2) and Andrew Brooks (4-0-19-1) were Wicket Wasps’ best bowlers. Mr X won the match and the Twenty/20 trophy by 7 wickets.
