Ezakheni Visible Policing and Detective Services members are conducting intelligence-driven operations, under the banner of ‘When Duty Calls’, between October 26 and November 11 within the Ezakheni policing precinct.
The operations have been a huge success so far, with a total of 62 arrests for crimes including murder, assault GBH, malicious injury to property, theft, burglary, robbery, possession of property suspected to be stolen, stock theft, intimidation, Crimen Injuria, selling liquor without a licence, drunken driving, drinking in public, driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence, as well as other offences under the Road Traffic Act.
Recoveries included a goat, seven goat skins, knives, a flat screen TV, a generator, a case of beer, a CZ75 9mm pistol, an empty firearm magazine and 11 live rounds of ammunition.
“Ezakheni SAPS will continue to conduct operations together with other role players to ensure the safety and security of the people during and after the festive season,” said Colonel VS Dludla.
“The frequency of these arrests and recoveries will send a clear message to criminals that ‘If you do the crime, you will do the time’,” he added, promising many more operations to follow.
