Foreign nationals shot and robbed

Gunshots were fired into the driver’s door, forcing the vehicle to come to a stop

Two Chinese businessmen were attacked early this morning while driving along the R103. The businessmen were travelling from Ladysmith to Durban.

Near Frere (Estcourt area), their vehicle was followed by a black Mercedes Benz with no registration plates.

Four occupants in the Mercedes Benz ordered the businessmen to take the Frere road.

Gunshots were fired into the driver’s door, forcing the vehicle to come to a stop.

The 41-year-old driver was struck in the leg.

The robbers stole cash from the vehicle before fleeing.

The Chinese Nationals managed to drive back to Ladysmith, where they sought medical attention at a local hospital.

A case of robbery and attempted murder is being investigated by Estcourt police.
