UPDATE: Culpable homicide case opened following collision

Newcastle SAPS are currently investigating a case of culpable homicide, following the fatal collision this morning.

The Newcastle Advertiser just received word that a case of culpable homicide has been opened, following this morning’s fatal collision.

“Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of a 57-year-old man, and an 8-year-old boy on the Madadeni Road next to KwaMathukuza,” said SAPS spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela.

According to police, the light motor vehicle collided head-on with the bus.

Captain Magudulela said the vehicle went underneath the bus as the driver swerved on impact, before coming to a standstill in the valley.

Investigations have since been launched.
