oSizweni police arrested three men for the possession of dagga in Mndozo, oSizweni on November 18.
While conducting routine patrols in the area, police received information regarding a home where dagga was reportedly being sold.
“The members followed up that information and went to an identified house, where it was searched,” said SAPS provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala. “Three men were found busy wrapping up dagga slops from the house.”
Police confiscated 16 bags of dagga, with an estimated weight of 59.12 kilograms. The reported street value of the drugs is believed to be about R59 000.
All three suspects, aged between 35 and 53, were arrested and later charged. They made their first appearance before the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on November 19.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended police on the recovery and arrests.
“We will continue working together with the community in getting rid of drugs in our society,” she concluded.
